WHY? .... Australian Aboriginal leaders have criticized the Russian skaters for their skate in the theme of the Aboriginal culture and people. Why? ... I want to know why? Why is it. we can all go out with a friend & split the bill "Dutch" , we can all make plays about the French, or eat French bread. We can all say "Russian roulette" or all dress up like a pilgrim. It doesn't matter what culture or race you are... anyone can do these things.... But why is it "Racist" to act or do a play or imitate or name something on all races & cultures equally?
When I was in high school: Our mascot name was "Meadowdale Chief's" We all loved & all took pride in this. Even those who were native American... Until one person said it was "Racist" & it hurt her feelings cause it was making fun of her.... & she wanted it changed! ... The word "Chief" in the Webster"s dictionary states: the head or leader of a group, organization, etc - adj. 1. highest in rank, office, etc. 2. main; principal - in chief in the chief position....... (No where does it say "Native Americans" - A chief of police, or Fire department are also "Chiefs")
I feel the Australian Aboriginal leaders are a bunch of cry babies and are crying over nothing... and if they want this not to be done... then they or any Australian Aboriginal person better "NEVER" act or imitate or dress like an United States of American ... For then I'm offended by them!!!!!!!! I find them insulting me & they are a racist against me & my culture & they need 2 stop ASAP! (Practice what you preach! if you do not want anyone giving honor to you and showing the world about your people except your own... then return then & do not act like anyone else except your own. - I personally worked with international students and love all the different cultures & do not feel the same way the Australian Aboriginal leaders do.)
